There’s a chair by the window in Mr. Adebayo’s home.
Not just any chair — her chair.
His wife, Grace, used to sit there every morning.
Tea in hand. Radio humming in the background.
It was her little ritual: watching the neighbours walk their dogs, calling out to the kids on their way to school, and waving at the postman who always tipped his cap.
But after Grace passed, the chair sat empty.
Mr. Adebayo, now 84, didn’t speak much about the loneliness.
He just started eating less. Sleeping less.
And slowly, silently… fading.
His daughter, Ronke, lives in Aberdeen.
She visits when she can, but the flights are expensive and time is always short.
She told us, through quiet tears on the phone:
“I just want someone to check on him. Not just to give him pills. I want someone who sees him.”
That’s where Justintime Healthcare came in.
When we met Mr. Adebayo, he smiled politely.
But he didn’t expect much.
Until he met Amina — one of our most experienced carers.
She came in soft-spoken, respectful, with a knack for reading rooms without asking too much.
She brought ginger biscuits on her second visit.
Noticed the radio hadn’t been turned on.
And one day, she sat across from the chair and gently said:
“I bet she loved this spot.”
Mr. Adebayo didn’t reply.
But the next morning, Amina found him sitting in that chair.
Radio on. Tea in hand.
What changed?
Not the house. Not the weather.
What changed was presence.
Someone to say good morning. To notice the little things.
To bring life back into a space where grief had stolen all the colour.
Today, Mr. Adebayo laughs again.
He tells stories. He hums along to the radio.
And Ronke — she sleeps better at night, knowing someone is there.
At Justintime Healthcare, this is what care looks like.
It’s not just about medication and meals.
It’s about being human — in the moments that matter most.
💬 Could someone you love use that kind of care?
Whether it's a daily visit or full-time support, we're here to help you hold on to the good moments — and maybe even create a few new ones.
