The week before Easter always carried a certain weight for Margaret.
At 84, the days tended to blend into each other, but Holy Week stood apart. It reminded her of springtime family dinners, the warm scent of hot cross buns, and watching her grandchildren decorate eggs around the table.
But this year felt…different.
Her children were abroad. Her best friend had passed away in February. The familiar hum of her once-busy home had quieted down to the gentle ticking of her clock.
And as she looked at her calendar — "Good Friday: April 11" circled in blue — she quietly whispered, "Maybe this time, I’ll spend it alone."
💙 Then Came Clara
Clara is one of our Justintime carers — young, patient, and with a soft way of entering a room like she was bringing sunlight with her.
She wasn't assigned to Margaret initially. It was a last-minute Easter week adjustment due to staff rotation. But sometimes, the universe rearranges things just right.
From day one, Clara noticed how Margaret spoke about Easter like it was a ghost — something sweet, but far gone. So Clara got to work — not just ticking care boxes but bringing Easter back into Margaret’s life.
She helped Margaret water her small garden. Brought her palm fronds from church on Sunday. Even surprised her with a mini Easter basket for her bedside table.
On Maundy Thursday, Clara asked if she could bring Margaret a plate from her own family’s Easter meal. Margaret was stunned. She smiled the way you smile when you’re not used to being remembered.
And that’s what Easter is about — remembering, returning, and resurrecting joy in small ways.
💬 “I thought I’d be alone,” Margaret told us.
“But I’ve never felt more cared for.”
🌼 At Justintime Healthcare, Easter isn’t just a season — it’s a reminder.
It reminds us that compassion revives the spirit, that even in quiet homes, there’s always a reason to smile, and that every new week is a chance to show up for someone who needs it.
This week, as we walk toward Good Friday, we hold onto the reason we do what we do: to make people feel less alone.
🕯️ Know someone who might need a little extra care this Easter?
Let’s make sure no one spends Holy Week feeling forgotten.
